DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide)

Delta Sleep‑Inducing Peptide (DSIP) is a naturally occurring neuropeptide studied for its role in promoting deep, restorative sleep and supporting recovery processes by influencing sleep architecture and neuroendocrine balance. DSIP has been investigated in controlled human sleep studies, showing effects on sleep duration, sleep stage distribution, and subjective sleep quality, making it relevant to research on sleep regulation, stress modulation, and recovery. ⚗️ Product Features 💤 Naturally occurring nonapeptide involved in sleep research 🧠 Modulates neuroendocrine signaling related to sleep and recovery 🔁 Supports studies on sleep architecture and restorative sleep stages 🧘 Influences stress‑related pathways that affect neuroendocrine balance ✅ ≥98 % purity verified by HPLC 📄 Batch‑specific Certificates of Analysis (COAs) included 💧 Sterile, lyophilized peptide for research applications ⭐ Key Benefits 🌙 Supports deep restorative sleep and improved sleep efficiency ⚡ Enhances recovery processes during natural sleep cycles 😌 Modulates stress‑linked sleep disruptions through neuroendocrine pathways 🔬 Human‑Relevant Research Applications 🌙 Sleep Quality & Architecture Clinical research involving intravenous DSIP administration in humans has shown increased sleep duration, improved sleep efficiency, and reduced sleep interruptions compared with placebo. Subjects experienced enhanced sleep pressure and deeper sleep metrics without classic sedation. 🔗 https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/6895513/ — DSIP increased sleep duration and improved sleep efficiency in healthy volunteers versus placebo. 🛌 Restorative Sleep in Insomnia Additional controlled human research in individuals with sleep disturbances suggests that DSIP can normalize disrupted sleep patterns, extending periods of sleep with fewer awakenings and improved overall quality. 🧾 Mechanism Summary 🧠 Influences sleep homeostasis and delta (deep) sleep stages ⚖️ Modulates neuroendocrine systems involved in stress and sleep regulation 🔄 Enhances phases of sleep that support physical recovery, metabolic restoration, and cognitive processing 🔄 Reconstitution & Handling Guidance 1️⃣ Reconstitute using sterile bacteriostatic water2️⃣ Add appropriate volume based on research protocol3️⃣ Gently swirl — do not shake4️⃣ Store reconstituted peptide at 4–10 °C5️⃣ Refrigerate unopened vials until use ❓ Frequently Asked Research Questions What has DSIP been studied for in humans?DSIP has been studied in controlled clinical settings for its ability to increase sleep duration, improve sleep architecture, and support restorative sleep patterns in both healthy subjects and individuals with disrupted sleep. How does DSIP support recovery?By enhancing deep sleep stages and improving sleep efficiency, DSIP facilitates neuroendocrine processes that occur during sleep — including hormonal balance, tissue repair, and stress regulation — all key components of recovery.

What is DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide)?

DSIP (delta sleep-inducing peptide) is a nine-amino-acid peptide. It was first isolated in 1977 by Swiss researchers from the blood of rabbits in which sleep had been induced by brain stimulation. It was named for its reported ability to increase delta, or slow-wave, sleep in rabbits.

DSIP has been found in the brain and in peripheral tissues. How it works is still not well understood, and no specific receptor has been identified. Research suggests it may interact with several systems, including stress hormone and neurotransmitter pathways.

Also known as: Delta sleep-inducing peptide, Emideltide

What are peptides?

What the research covers

DSIP has been studied since the 1970s in animals and in small human studies. Animal research has looked at sleep patterns, stress responses and pain. Small human studies in the 1980s and 1990s examined sleep in people with insomnia, with mixed results. One double-blind study in chronic insomnia found only weak effects and concluded that short-term use was unlikely to give major benefit. Overall, the evidence is limited, older and inconsistent. Researchers have described DSIP as a still unresolved puzzle. DSIP is not approved as a medicine by the US FDA.

Frequently asked questions

What does the research on DSIP show?

DSIP has been studied for sleep in animals and in small human studies. Human results have been mixed and the studies are mostly older and small, so the evidence is limited.

How is DSIP different from melatonin?

Melatonin is a hormone made by the pineal gland that helps signal night-time to the body. DSIP is a peptide whose mechanism is still unclear. They are unrelated compounds.

Which formats are available and how do I store them?

We supply DSIP as a pen, cartridge, vial or nasal spray. Pens, cartridges and reconstituted vials are kept refrigerated. Nasal sprays are refrigerated after opening unless the label says otherwise. Follow the storage instructions on your pharmacy label.

Are there side effects?

Side effects can occur. Your GP will review your health, medication and, where relevant, blood results before prescribing, and you should report anything unexpected.
