What is Glutaone 1000mg?

Glutathione is a tripeptide made naturally in the body from three amino acids: glutamate, cysteine and glycine. It is found in almost every cell and is one of the body's main antioxidants.

In its reduced form, glutathione helps neutralise reactive oxygen species and supports enzymes involved in detoxification in the liver. It also helps recycle other antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E. Levels are thought to fall with age and with some chronic conditions. Because it is broken down in the gut, injectable forms are sometimes used.

Also known as: GSH, L-glutathione, Reduced glutathione, Glutathione peptide Pen, Glutaone 1000mg

What are peptides?

What the research covers

Glutathione has been studied widely in cell, animal and human research. Small human trials have looked at whether oral or injected glutathione raises body levels and changes markers of oxidative stress, with mixed results. Early studies suggested oral glutathione is poorly absorbed, while later trials reported some increases in body stores over longer periods. It has also been studied for skin tone, liver health and insulin sensitivity, but evidence remains limited and inconsistent. Injectable glutathione is not approved by the US FDA as a medicine for any specific condition.

Frequently asked questions

Is glutathione the same as a supplement?

Glutathione is also sold as an oral supplement. Our pens and vials are injectable forms prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy, which is why they need a prescription.

What does the research show?

Glutathione has been studied for oxidative stress, skin tone and liver health. Human trials are mostly small and results are mixed, so firm conclusions cannot yet be drawn.

What formats are available and how are they stored?

It is available as a pen or a vial, including Glutaone 1000mg. Keep pens in the fridge, and refrigerate vials after reconstitution, away from light. Follow the storage instructions on your pharmacy label.

Are there side effects?

Side effects can occur. Your GP will review your health, medication and, where relevant, blood results before prescribing, and you should report anything unexpected.
