KPV is a naturally occurring tripeptide fragment of alpha‑melanocyte‑stimulating hormone (α‑MSH) that has been widely studied for its anti‑inflammatory, immune‑modulating, and tissue‑repair activities. It is of interest in research exploring pathways that regulate inflammation, epithelial health, and mucosal signaling in gut and skin models. ⚗️ Product Features 🧪 Tripeptide fragment (Lys‑Pro‑Val) derived from α‑MSH 🔬 Anti‑inflammatory and immune‑modulating signaling activity 🍃 Supports epithelial repair pathways and barrier integrity ✅ ≥98 % purity verified by HPLC 📄 Batch‑specific Certificates of Analysis (COAs) included 💧 Sterile, lyophilized peptide for research applications 🔬 Human‑Relevant Research Applications 🌱 Anti‑Inflammatory & Epithelial Pathway Modulation KPV is taken up by peptide transporters (PepT1) expressed in human intestinal epithelial cells and has been shown in research to reduce activation of inflammatory signaling pathways (e.g., NF‑κB) and pro‑inflammatory cytokine responses in human gut cell models.🔗 https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18061177/ — KPV uptake via PepT1 in human epithelial and immune cell lines inhibits inflammatory signaling and cytokine expression in intestinal cell systems. 🧾 Mechanism Summary ⚙️ PepT1‑mediated uptake into epithelial and immune cells enhances intracellular activity 🔥 Suppresses key inflammatory signaling pathways such as NF‑κB 🩹 Supports research into gut epithelial regulation and mucosal barrier responses 🧠 Immune‑modulating activity linked to α‑MSH signaling pathways ❓ Frequently Asked Research Questions What effects has KPV shown in human cell models?KPV has demonstrated reduced inflammatory signaling and cytokine expression in human intestinal epithelial cell studies, supporting its role in research into inflammation regulation and epithelial responses. How does KPV interact with epithelial cells?KPV is transported into human epithelial cells via the PepT1 transporter, where it can downregulate inflammatory pathways such as NF‑κB, which is central to many inflammatory processes.
What is KPV Pen?
KPV is a tripeptide made of lysine, proline and valine. It matches the last three amino acids of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH), a natural hormone involved in inflammation and skin pigmentation.
Unlike full alpha-MSH, KPV is not thought to cause skin darkening. Laboratory studies suggest it can enter gut cells through a transporter called PepT1. Once inside, it appears to dampen inflammatory signalling such as the NF-kB pathway. Because it is so small, researchers have also explored oral and colon-targeted delivery. Its effects in humans have not been well characterised.
Also known as: Lys-Pro-Val, alpha-MSH (11-13), α-MSH C-terminal tripeptide
What the research covers
KPV has been studied in cell cultures and mouse models of inflammatory bowel disease. In these models, early research suggests it may reduce markers of intestinal inflammation. Researchers have also tested KPV in nanoparticle and hydrogel delivery systems aimed at the colon. Related research has examined the anti-inflammatory activity of alpha-MSH and its fragments in skin and immune cells. There are no published large human trials of KPV. Its effects and safety in people are not well established. KPV is not approved as a medicine by the US FDA.

Frequently asked questions
Which formats are available and how should I store KPV?
KPV is available as a pre-filled pen, a cartridge for a reusable pen or a vial of freeze-dried powder. Your GP will advise which format suits you. Store pens and cartridges in the fridge at 2-8C and do not freeze. Keep lyophilised vials cool, dry and away from light; once reconstituted, refrigerate at 2-8C, protect from light and do not freeze. Follow the storage instructions on your pharmacy label.
How is KPV different from alpha-MSH or Melanotan?
KPV is only the last three amino acids of alpha-MSH. It has been studied for anti-inflammatory activity and is not thought to act on pigmentation. Melanotan II is a longer synthetic analogue designed to act on melanocortin receptors, including those linked to tanning.
What does the research show?
KPV has been studied in cell and mouse models of gut inflammation, where early research suggests it may reduce inflammatory markers. Human data are lacking, so it should not be viewed as a proven treatment.
Are there side effects?
Side effects can occur. Your GP will review your health, medication and, where relevant, blood results before prescribing, and you should report anything unexpected.
