MT2 Pen

MT‑II (Melanotan II) is a synthetic peptide analog of α‑melanocyte‑stimulating hormone (α‑MSH). It was originally investigated for its ability to stimulate melanin production (tanning) and later studied for central nervous system effects on sexual arousal and libido. ⚗️ Product Features 🧪 Melanocortin receptor agonist peptide ☀️ Stimulates melanogenesis pathways for skin pigmentation ❤️ Central effects on sexual arousal mechanisms ✅ ≥98 % purity verified by HPLC 📄 Batch‑specific Certificates of Analysis (COAs) included 💧 Sterile, lyophilized peptide for research applications ☀️ Skin Pigmentation & Melanin Production MT‑II activates melanocortin receptors (especially MC1R) in melanocytes, leading to increased melanin production and progressive skin tanning in humans over multiple doses.🔗 Study: PubMed 8637402 ❤️ Libido & Sexual Function MT‑II has been investigated for its effects on sexual desire and erectile function. What is MT2 Pen?

Melanotan II is a synthetic cyclic peptide developed at the University of Arizona in the 1980s and 1990s. It is an analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH), a natural hormone involved in skin pigmentation.

Melanotan II activates several melanocortin receptors. Activation of the MC1 receptor in skin cells is linked to melanin production and darker skin tone. Because it also acts on other melanocortin receptors in the brain, it can affect appetite and sexual arousal. PT-141 was later developed from it.

Also known as: MT-II, MT2, Melanotan 2

What are peptides?

What the research covers

Melanotan II has been studied in early-phase clinical studies and in animal models. Small pilot studies in the 1990s looked at skin pigmentation in healthy volunteers. Other small studies looked at erectile function in men. Commonly reported effects included nausea, flushing and changes in moles and skin pigmentation. It did not progress to large trials or approval. Regulators including the US FDA, the UK MHRA and Australia's TGA have issued safety warnings about unlicensed Melanotan products. Melanotan II is not approved as a medicine by the US FDA or the European Medicines Agency.

Frequently asked questions

Is Melanotan II approved?

No. It is not approved as a medicine by the US FDA or the European Medicines Agency, and several regulators have issued safety warnings about unlicensed products. Your GP will discuss this with you.

How is Melanotan II different from PT-141?

PT-141 was developed from Melanotan II and differs by one chemical group. Melanotan II acts more broadly on melanocortin receptors, including those linked to skin pigmentation.

Should I keep checking my skin?

Changes in moles and pigmentation have been reported. Your GP may advise regular skin checks, and you should report any new or changing moles.

Are there side effects?

Side effects can occur. Your GP will review your health, medication and, where relevant, blood results before prescribing, and you should report anything unexpected.
