PEG‑MGF is a stabilized form of Mechano Growth Factor (MGF) — a splice variant of IGF‑1 that is expressed in skeletal muscle in response to mechanical stress and damage. The pegylation process extends the peptide’s half‑life, allowing longer‑lasting activity, which can support satellite cell activation and protein synthesis signaling pathways linked to muscle repair and growth in research models. ⚗️ Product Features 🧪 IGF‑1 splice variant peptide (pegylated for stability) 🔄 Extended half‑life for prolonged activity ✅ ≥98 % purity verified by HPLC 📄 Batch‑specific Certificates of Analysis (COAs) included 💧 Sterile, lyophilized peptide for research applications 🔬 Human‑Relevant Research Applications 🧠 Muscle Cell Activation & Regeneration Pathways Mechano Growth Factor (MGF), the native splice variant of IGF‑1, has been shown in human cell culture studies to increase proliferation and fusion potential of primary human muscle progenitor cells, indicating its role in muscle regeneration. While PEG‑MGF itself has not been clinically studied in humans, its biological basis — the MGF peptide domain — has demonstrated mechanisms that support satellite cell activation and muscle repair signaling in human models. 🔗 https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21354439/ — MGF E‑peptide increases proliferative capacity and fusion potential of human muscle progenitor cells. 🧾 Mechanism Summary 📈 Derived from the IGF‑1 splice variant naturally expressed after muscle overload or damage ⚙️ Pegylation extends the peptide’s half‑life compared with native MGF, allowing for sustained signaling in research assays 🧬 Supports satellite cell activation & muscle progenitor proliferation pathways in human muscle cell culture models 🏃♂️ Important component of muscle regeneration and repair signaling, distinct from systemic IGF‑1 effects 🔄 Reconstitution & Handling Guidance 1️⃣ Reconstitute with sterile bacteriostatic water2️⃣ Add appropriate volume based on research protocol3️⃣ Gently swirl — do not shake4️⃣ Store reconstituted peptide at 4–10 °C5️⃣ Keep unopened vials refrigerated until use ❓ Frequently Asked Research Questions How does PEGylation affect MGF activity?Pegylation increases the peptide’s half‑life, which allows it to remain active longer than native MGF, potentially sustaining anabolic signaling in research settings.
What is PEG-MGF?
Mechano growth factor (MGF) is a splice variant of the IGF-1 gene. In humans it is known as IGF-1Ec. It is produced in muscle after mechanical load or damage. Synthetic MGF usually refers to a short peptide based on its unique C-terminal E domain.
PEG-MGF is this peptide attached to polyethylene glycol (PEG). Pegylation is a technique used to slow breakdown and extend how long a peptide stays in circulation. MGF is thought to act on muscle precursor cells, although its mechanism is debated.
Also known as: Pegylated Mechano Growth Factor, PEGylated MGF, MGF E-peptide (pegylated), IGF-1Ec E-peptide
What the research covers
MGF peptides have been studied in cell cultures and animal models of muscle and heart injury. Some studies suggest the E-peptide may influence muscle precursor cell activity and survival. Other studies, including work from an industry group, found no clear effect on muscle cells. The overall evidence is therefore mixed and unresolved. There are no published clinical trials of PEG-MGF in humans. Its effects and safety in people are not established. PEG-MGF is not approved as a medicine by the US FDA.

Frequently asked questions
Which formats are available and how should I store PEG-MGF?
PEG-MGF is available as a vial of freeze-dried powder. Your GP will advise which format suits you. Keep lyophilised vials cool, dry and away from light; once reconstituted, refrigerate at 2-8C, protect from light and do not freeze. Follow the storage instructions on your pharmacy label.
How is PEG-MGF different from MGF and IGF-1?
IGF-1 is a 70 amino acid growth factor. MGF refers to a peptide from the E domain of one IGF-1 splice variant. PEG-MGF is that peptide with polyethylene glycol attached, which is designed to slow its breakdown.
What does the research show?
MGF has been studied in cells and animals, with mixed results. Some studies report effects on muscle precursor cells and others do not. There are no human trials of PEG-MGF.
Are there side effects?
Side effects can occur. Your GP will review your health, medication and, where relevant, blood results before prescribing, and you should report anything unexpected.
