SNAP-8 (Acetyl Octapeptide-3)

SNAP‑8 (Acetyl Octapeptide‑3) is a cosmetic peptide engineered as a non‑invasive alternative to injectable neuromodulators. Designed to modulate the intensity of facial muscle contractions, SNAP‑8 helps soften dynamic expression lines and promote smoother, more youthful‑looking skin. Often referred to as a “Botox‑like peptide”, SNAP‑8 is widely incorporated into anti‑aging skincare formulations to diminish fine lines and improve overall skin texture. Rather than paralyzing muscles, SNAP‑8 gently reduces repetitive micro‑contractions, addressing the root biomechanical contributor to expression wrinkles when used consistently in topical applications. Key Features 🧴 Non‑invasive cosmetic peptide – Designed for topical application without injections.📊 Enhanced anti‑wrinkle performance – Engineered from Argireline with an extended sequence for greater activity.💡 Targets expression lines – Focuses on crow’s feet, forehead furrows, and smile lines from repetitive facial movement.🖊️ Pre‑filled sterile peptide pens for research use only – Convenient, high‑purity delivery form. Human‑Relevant Research Applications 🔬 Reduces wrinkle depth and expression line severityClinical cosmetic research demonstrates that topical application of SNAP‑8 in controlled studies can reduce wrinkle depth by up to ~63% after 28 days of consistent use, particularly in areas with frequent dynamic activity such as around the eyes and forehead. Key Benefits ✨ Softens expression lines – Helps diminish the look of crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead creases. 💆♀️ Non‑invasive alternative to injections – Offers cosmetic wrinkle‑reducing effects without needles or downtime. 🌿 Promotes smoother skin texture – Supports visible smoothing of dynamic facial lines over weeks of consistent use. ⚖️ Enhanced stability & efficacy vs predecessors – Extended peptide structure provides improved performance vs earlier cosmetic peptides. 🔍 Research‑aligned ingredient – Backed by cosmetic peptide science linking mechanism to visible skin improvements. Reconstitution & Handling Guidance 1️⃣ Use sterile bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol)2️⃣ Add 3 ml of bacteriostatic water to reconstitute the peptide3️⃣ Gently swirl until fully dissolved (do not vortex)4️⃣ Store reconstituted peptide at 4 °C–10 °C for 2–3 months5️⃣ Unreconstituted peptide can be stored at 4 °C–10 °C until the expiration date Mechanism Summary • Neuromuscular modulation — SNAP‑8 mimics part of the SNAP‑25 protein involved in neurotransmitter release at neuromuscular junctions, reducing acetylcholine‑mediated muscle contractions that contribute to expression lines.• Dynamic wrinkle targeting — By attenuating repetitive contractions, it gradually softens the appearance of fine lines and improves skin relaxation patterns.• Topical compatibility — Designed for incorporation into serums and creams targeting facial aging signs.

What is SNAP-8 (Acetyl Octapeptide-3)?

Snap-8 is a synthetic eight-amino-acid peptide developed for cosmetic use. It is an extended version of acetyl hexapeptide-8, often known by the trade name Argireline. Both are designed to mimic part of SNAP-25, a protein involved in releasing signalling chemicals at nerve endings.

Snap-8 is thought to compete with SNAP-25 in the SNARE complex, which nerves use to trigger muscle contraction. In theory, this may reduce the signals behind repeated facial muscle movement and expression lines. It is designed as a gentler, non-injectable alternative to botulinum toxin, but works in a different way.

Also known as: Acetyl octapeptide-3, Acetyl glutamyl heptapeptide-3

What are peptides?

What the research covers

Snap-8 has been studied mainly in laboratory tests and in manufacturer-led cosmetic studies of topical creams. These studies have looked at the depth of expression lines, such as around the eyes and forehead. Peer-reviewed independent research on Snap-8 itself is limited. Related peptides such as acetyl hexapeptide-8 have more published data. Most evidence concerns use on the skin. There is little published research on other routes of use. Snap-8 is a cosmetic ingredient and is not approved as a medicine by the US FDA.

Frequently asked questions

How should I store Snap-8?

Keep vials cool and dry, and refrigerate after reconstitution. Protect from light and do not freeze. Follow the storage instructions on your pharmacy label.

How is Snap-8 different from Argireline?

Snap-8 is an eight-amino-acid version of acetyl hexapeptide-8 (Argireline), which has six. Both are designed to mimic part of the SNAP-25 protein.

Is Snap-8 the same as botulinum toxin?

No. Both relate to the nerve signals behind muscle contraction, but Snap-8 is a short peptide that works differently and has been studied mainly in topical cosmetic products.

Are there side effects?

Side effects can occur. Your GP will review your health, medication and, where relevant, blood results before prescribing, and you should report anything unexpected.
