Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) is a next‑generation peptide research formula designed to support nervous system function, balanced immunity, and respiratory health through multi‑system regulatory pathways. By influencing neuroimmune signaling, smooth muscle relaxation, and anti‑inflammatory mechanisms, VIP is studied for its role in cognitive support, immune modulation, and respiratory homeostasis. This formulation is ideal for research models focused on neuroprotection, immune regulation, inflammation balance, pulmonary function, and systemic wellness in human‑relevant studies. What is VIP?
VIP (vasoactive intestinal peptide) is a natural 28-amino-acid peptide hormone. It was first isolated from pig intestine in 1970 by Sami Said and Viktor Mutt. It is made by nerve cells in the gut, brain, lungs and other tissues, and belongs to the same family as secretin and glucagon.
VIP acts on two main receptors, VPAC1 and VPAC2. Through these it relaxes smooth muscle in blood vessels and airways, and influences gut secretion. Research suggests it also has roles in regulating the immune system and inflammation. The synthetic form is called aviptadil.
Also known as: Vasoactive intestinal peptide, Vasoactive intestinal polypeptide, Aviptadil
What the research covers
VIP has been studied widely in cell and animal models of inflammation, immune disorders and nerve cell protection. Small human studies have examined inhaled VIP in pulmonary hypertension and intravenous or inhaled aviptadil in severe respiratory illness, with mixed results. Its use for healthy ageing has not been studied in clinical trials. Aviptadil combined with phentolamine has been approved in the UK and some European countries as an injection for erectile dysfunction. Aviptadil is not approved by the US FDA.

Frequently asked questions
What does the research on VIP show?
VIP has been studied extensively in cells and animals for inflammation and immune regulation, and in small human studies for lung conditions. Results in people are mixed, and it has not been studied in trials for healthy ageing.
Is VIP an approved medicine?
Aviptadil, the synthetic form of VIP, combined with phentolamine is approved in the UK and some European countries for erectile dysfunction. It is not approved by the US FDA. Our product is a compounded preparation prescribed by our GP.
Which formats are available and how do I store them?
We supply VIP as a pen or vial. Keep pens and reconstituted vials refrigerated at 2-8°C, protected from light. Follow the storage instructions on your pharmacy label.
Are there side effects?
Side effects can occur. Your GP will review your health, medication and, where relevant, blood results before prescribing, and you should report anything unexpected.
